Located on the channel coast along Brittany's "Pink granite coast" on the western bank of the Rance estuary, Dinard is a small, "up market" town popular with both the French and English alike. Most famous as a summer holiday destination, Dinard has several large sandy beaches and numbers many holiday homes, especially in the areas around the central of town and the largest of the beaches, the Plage de l'ecluse.
Patrimoine et famille immobilier is a family estate agency run by Yves de Sagazan and his wife, Marielle.
With over 20 years experience of estate agency in the local area, Yves has a wealth of knowledge and experience of the local property market both within Dinard itself, as well as local towns and villages including Saint Enogat, St Lunaire, Pleurtuit, St Briac-sur-mer and along the rance estuary towards Dinan. Originally from Paris, Yves has lived in Dinard for well over 20 years but has visited regularly since his childhood. Having originally managed other agencies within the town, Yves started his own agency when suitable office premises became available on the market square in 2007. The business is very much a family affair with Yves looking after the Estate Agency side of the business while Marielle manages the holiday rental business. Both Yves and Marielle speak English as well as french and will be happy resolve any query you may have.
With its dual role of market town and popular summer holiday destination, Dinard has a dual character.
In winter and spring the central part of town can be very quiet as this area is heavily populated with 2nd homes. The market square continues to host several markets every week which can draw in fairly large crowds (though much smaller than in the summer months) and the restaurants and boutiques continue to be a draw but again numbers are much lower than June through to September. On sunny winter days the beach often see groups playing football or volleyball, and the coastal walks are always popular. In summer, from mid July to late August, the population of the town swells considerably as holiday makers from all over france and beyond arrive for their annual beach holiday. Being adjacent to the channel ferry port of St Malo and with Dinard 'international' airport (Ryanair) only a few kilometers away, Dinard is also very popular with the British. Despite this influx the town manages to retain a very french atmosphere and various 'spectacles' throughout the summer months add a real holiday feel to the town.
Dinard is famous for its regular markets and this is well worth a visit. Similarly, strolling along the coastal paths is also a popular pastime as is wandering the routes along the promontories from which you can view not only the magnificent vistas across the various bays, but also the wonderful villas and mansions built in the gothic or 'belle-epoque' style.
Brittany is famous for its seafood and Dinard is no exception. In every season you will find many restaurants serving locally sources produce. The restaurants at the place de la republique are particularly popular as is the Casino restaurant with its stunning panoramic views across the main beach. A short ferry ride across the bay de la rance is St Malo and various other coastal trips are regularly available. |
